How to Connect Pipe Fittings to a Pipe?

Basically, there are either male pipe fittings or female pipe fittings. Street fittings are those which have one female end and one male end. Usually, there are two ways of connecting a pipe fitting:

By Threading: Threaded pipes twist composedly to link. Metal pipes are the ones who are generally threaded and consist threaded fittings.

By Slip-Fit: this kind of pipes use sleeves which slip into one another. For instance- the plastic pipes are sometimes slip-fit or threaded.

Coupling and unions

To expand the run of pipe sections, all you need to do this is just connect it with the other section using the Couplings and Unions. Caps & Plugs

They have same programs but their way of working varies. A cap lies at the end of pipe hence closing the end.  The Plug also halts the endings of a pipe but you need to plug it inside just like a stopper. A Plug has male threads whereas the cap has female threads.

Union

These works exactly like a coupling but its removal isn’t possible once fixed. The nuts, male and female ended threads that are important to maintain the intention of a pipe.

Adapters

They make the pipes threaded in either male or female respectively when the pipe lacks in endings. Generally, used for copper and PVC pipes are adapters as one of their ends is plain and this ends go through welding to the plain pipe end.

OLETS In Pipe Fittings

Olets come into use when our requirements are not fulfilled by the standard size fittings. They are useful when the inlet pipe has a larger diameter than the outlet pipe.

How to select suitable pipe fittings?

Pipe fittings is available according to the purpose they serve. Also, there are certain factors on the basis of which we select pipe fittings. The following can be those factors:

  • Connection types: we know that a fitting has two distinct connector types. One end can either be a female slip or threaded or vice-versa. There can also be matching ends which may adjust any demands. The attachment of fittings to pipes can be through many different connection methods, each with its own conveniences and advantages.
  • Material used: Obviously, the pipe fitting should be of the same material to that of which it is to be fit. Moreover, materials obedient to certain levels or codes can also be applicable in pipes of another material.
  • Fluid density: see to it that the ends of pipe fittings are a bit large in size than the rest of pipe to better accommodation links without restricting the inner diameter of the pipe.

To determine pipes directions

Elbows
The change in the flow of direction within two pipes using Elbows. These come with an angle of 22.5o, 45o, and 90o. Normal elbows are applicable for pipes of similar diameters whereas Reducer elbows are applicable when the diameters of two pipes are alike. Commonly composed of female threads, the connection of these Elbows is possible using butt and socket welding. To sync two or more pipes: Tees, Cross, Side-inlet Elbows, Wyes
Tee Fittings
This is an ingredient used by plumbers and is in T shape with one inlet and two outlets. These outlets extend till 90 degrees to connect to the inlet line. They are mostly used to combine the flow from two inlets to one outlet. An Unequal tee is one who has all the three sides of T-fittings similar.
Reducers
These come into use when you need to blend or rift the pipe or tube sections. With the intersection of an Input and three Outputs at 90 degrees angles. All of its designs are available in standard layouts. i.e., with the same diameter and reducing designs. This kind of fittings have four openings in four directions and connect when four pipes are together at a focus center. A lot of strain comes from these fittings on the pipes when the temperature differs as they are at the center of four points connected. For fire sprinkler systems, cross fittings are usually used.
