Stub End

Stub End is basically fittings which replace welded flanges when you need rotating backup flanges. Another name of Stub Ends is Lap joints and Vanstone Flared Laps. Stub end are born from adaptable materials from the designed piping systems. Although, the backup flanges need not be made from the same ingredient.
Fittingcart manufactures the best stub end in the world. Well, you must be wondering how the stub ends work? Firstly, a pivoting backup flange is placed against the backside of the stub end. Now, when you add bolts, they start clamping which presses the pivoting backup flange against the back of stub end. Further, this leads to the gasket surface of the stub end pressing against a gasket and another gasket surface. Hence, supplying joints like standard flange joints. Hence, the gasket surface of the stub end alone makes the seal whereas the flange just supplies the clamping pressure on the joint.

The correlated slip on the flange and the lap joint stub end helps you in faster detachment of a specific sector in the piping system. First, the stub end are set up in pairs and breed together along with two lap joint flanges. However, the surface of the stub ends has a phonographic jagged gasket surface base to prevent leakage at the joint. The major advantage with stub end is that they allow a section of line to open when inspecting or cleaning and substituting, hence avoiding the need of re-welding. A.S.A long barrel and M.S.S. short barrel are two types of lap joint stub ends. Strangely enough, it is not precise to have a joint between stub end and pipe in short or close concurrence with the flange joint under some design qualifications like pressure or temperature. Hence, in such applications A.S.A. types are useful. We at Fittingcart, manufacture high-quality stub ends of long & short radius to MSS and ANSI B 16.9 standard. Our huge facility of warehouse consists of big stub end stock ready to ship anytime.

Types of Stub end

Typically, there are two methods of manufacturing Stub Ends. The A and B type of stub ends are created similar to forged fittings like Elbows and Flanges. Another, type C-Stub Ends are made by making pipe into the required dimensions. At the same point, available in two standards lengths, MSS and ANSI, Stub Ends are generally given with a standard weld bevel. Furthermore, let’s see each type briefly.

  • Type A stub end
These stub ends are usually applicable with standard Lap Joint Flanges. Consequently, the thickness of Lap is greater than the pipe wall’s thickness. Then, the outer corner of Type “A” is halved to fix into the Lap Joint Flanges. Hence, the inner corner is of square shape having a machine serrate face.
  • Type B stub ends
Majorly useful with standard Slip-On Flanges pretending and Lap Joint Flanges. Here, type B has an outer corner radius small enough to adjust in Slip-On Flanges which are applicable as Backup Flanges. Thus, the inner corner is square.
  • Type C stub end
Particularly used with standard Lap Joint Flanges and with the Slip-On flanges. In C Type Stub end, the Lap is over flare, hence leaving a round edge at the inner diameter of the lap. Moreover, you can also make a near square of this radius if you wish to. The thickness of lap is 75% of the pipe wall and the Lap face is not machinize but smooth enough. Above all, type C has a very short outer fillet radius, however, it is small enough to adjust any backup flange.
  • Type “CS” Stub Ends
Almost similar to Type “C” despite the Lap face, as it has concentric serrations. These are suppliments during the manufacturing process.
Fittingcart tests its extreme quality stub ends and verifies it for its durable quality and precision accuracy. We manufacture stub ends in all standard dimensions (Butt weld fittings) and test or verify them for durability, accuracy, and precision. The manufacturing of stub ends takes place in all standard dimensions.
